Remould Your Spiritual Statue

by Sjef Van De Laak

From the moment we were born, we have been taught by grown up people how to live our lives. Our parents, family, teachers, our religion, they all have been teaching us how to behave, what is “good” and what is “wrong”, due to which we are actually copies of all our “Teachers”. We look at our life through the eyes of all those others.
The more we have been limited in our own free expression during the growing up period, the more frustrated persons we are now and the more we hear the voices in our head tell us what to do and what not to do. They keep telling us that life is and should be a struggle, and only the very lucky few have luck and fortune. Some of the standard rules we have been taught were for example:
- you have to fight to get lucky in your life
- security is more important than happiness
- your karma is what determines your life and what you can not change
- you have to guard yourself against all the dangers in the world
- if you are lucky you stay healthy if not you get sick
- it is very important what other people think about you
- you have to do this and you have to do that
You can fill a whole library with all kind of books with very impressive titles about the conceptions of life, written by all very “wise” and professional people that we believed were the therapeutics of our lives. Not to forget all the lessons we received from the church with the wrathful god, looking over your shoulder always watching what you were doing and punishing when you did something “bad”.
Here we are in the moment of now as grown-up people with our mental and emotional luggage from our past which we are carrying on our shoulders in our daily life.
Can we blame our educators for our shortcomings and frustrations and the burdens of life, can we point to them and call them the perpetrators of what we have become.
No, of course not, they did what they thought was right according to what they were taught during their education.
From nature we are the creators of our own individual world of thoughts and feelings.
We live now in a time where it becomes clear that we all have the power within us to step out of the conditioning of life and start to create our own happiness.
As we don’t allow it nobody can enter our mind or tell us what to do or where to go.
We did not know this but slowly the light starts glowing at the horizon.
So let us start to search for our inner beings and our uniqueness And begin to be the creators of our own life.
It sounds complicated, however it is easier then we realize.
