The Miracle Of Believing In Yourself

by Eric Chay

Once, there lived a little boy named Nick. He was seven years old.
Nick was born with a badly twisted, crippled left leg. After going through several operations in the first seven years of his life, he was eventually able to limp around, with a big metal brace supporting the bad leg.
Nick loved baseball. On his way home from school, he would passed by a big public field everyday. This is the place where all the older boys in the neighborhood played baseball.
Nick would always sit by the edge of the field for at least half an hour and watched the boys played. Sometimes, he would get up and cheered with all his might whenever a player hit a home run.
One day, his father told him gently, “Nic, if you have a chance to play baseball, you will not be able to run that fast because of your left leg”.
Do you know how Nick answered his father?
Give it a try!
Nick said, “Da, when I play baseball, I shall not need to run at all. I shall hit the ball so hard that it will fly out of the field. Then I shall slowly walk to the home base”.
Have you ever been in Nick’s position?
Would you listen to what Nick’s dad had told him?
Or would you believe in yourself like the way Nick does?
What dreams or visions do you have? What is holding you back from achieving these goals?
The actual truth is the fear of failure that is hindering you. It is the fear of failing that you do not dare to give your dreams a try.
That is why the first and most important thing to do is to believe in yourself just like Nick did in the above story. Believe that you deserve to have the very best in life. Believe in the possibilities and believe that your dreams can come true.
There may be a lot of hard work involved before you can realize your dreams. But if you do not give yourself this opportunity, who will?
It may begin with a vision or an aim in life. Start focusing on that vision. Your persistent actions along with determination and commitment are the basis in accomplishing your goals. Before you know it, your dreams have been turned into reality!
It all started with the miracle of believing in yourself…
