Procrastination - The Cause of Your Suffering Business

by Rita Litton

I know people do not want to believe that we have any flaws in our personality that will lead to the suffering and demise of their business. But I can assure you that there is something that we all have to overcome, in order to be successful. If you are like me the biggest obstacle you have to overcome is procrastination. You always tell yourself you will do it tomorrow or that can be done later, it won't hurt it I put it off a couple of days. Well in the business world you cannot wait until later, because someone else will do it now and you will be unsuccessful.
Procrastination is like any other issue we have to overcome; we have to know we have a problem and be willing to make changes. It does not matter if you need to quit smoking, loose weight or control your temper you are the only one who can make the changes and you are the one who has to decide to change. Is it easy, no way? The question is will it be worth it to make the change. Would you like see your suffering business turn and become the success that you want it to be. I know you would. So now that we know we struggle with procrastination and we want to change where do we start.
It is not easy to just say that I will not procrastinate anymore. It does not work like that. You will need help and the first thing you do is recruit a friend to help you change your habit. Without someone to encourage you and be honest with you the change is harder to make.
Change your vocabulary a little bit. When something needs to be done do not think about it as something that has to be done but as something you want to do. There is something about having to do something that makes the task seem dreadful and so we tend to put that task off. We know what it is like to be rushing around at the last minute trying to get something done. Well, we cannot blame anyone but ourselves, when we have chosen to do it later. It is this habit of doing it later that makes our business suffer.
Another thought change that you can make is to see your task in small steps. We might say that we are going to begin a project, instead of, saying that we need to finish a project. Seeing one large job as several small jobs will make you more likely to finish because it does not seem that you will never be finished. When it comes to your business do one thing at a time so that you do not become overwhelmed. You may need to list to prioritize what you need to do. A suffering business will soon come to life when you start getting the little things done.
One last thought, you do not have to do everything perfect. It is sometimes the need for perfection that causes us to procrastinate; we cannot bear the thought of one thing being wrong. Chill out and enjoy life by getting things done and being proud of your accomplishments, even if they are not perfect. Turn your suffering business into a thriving business by breaking the habit of procrastination, in your life.
